46 elementary and middle school students turned out for the 2017 Juneau Jumpers Winter Camp last week, hosted at Auke Bay Elementary School. Coaches Paula and Lesley Kalbrener, helped by team alumni and current jumpers, led camp attendees in four days of skill building and fun. Jumpers learned individual and group tricks, worked on hand-eye coordination, rhythm, and timing. Camp ended with a show for families.
Juneau Jumpers recruits in the fall each year – the next round of tryouts will be October or November, 2017. Anyone interested in Juneau Jumpers can track team progress through our website or Facebook page. Juneau Jumpers will host a pay-as-you-can February Demonstration Show (Saturday, Feb., 11) and will hold our annual end-of-season fundraising show on May 6.
Fourteen Jumpers returned for a new season of Juneau Jumpers. Welcome back to our Jumpers and their families: Connor, Amy, Katrina, Malina, Braith, Adella, Nani, Jack, Maddie, Garrett, Kelsey, Asianna, Kiah and Sophie.
The team is excited to welcome new Jumpers. Tryouts are scheduled Sundays: October 23 and 30 and November 6, from 3-5 pm each of those days at Auke Bay Elementary.
Interested Jumpers are encouraged to attend all three Sundays. The first two sessions will focus on skill building, and Jumpers will demonstrate the skills needed to make the team and work one-on-one with those who attend. Coaches and parent helpers will be on site. The official tryout day is November 6.
The Juneau Jumpers welcome kids in second grade and up to the tryout for the new season. Parents are welcome to stay and observe and visit with a returning parent or drop your jumper for the practice. Practice ends promptly at 5 pm each tryout day.
